This guy is everywhere in Los Angeles but I’m not suggesting your company should dress up in a logo themed costume. Here are 7 ways to help live your brand through social media.

  1. Find someone in your office, preferably with a marketing/design background, that best demonstrates your company’s values in their everyday life.
  2. Allow that person time to research and listen. What are consumers saying about your brand? Take in the good along with the bad. Using social media to respond to criticism can help repair any tarnished relationships by asking “How can I help?”
  3. Know your demographics. If Monday and Saturday are the most active days on Facebook, make sure you especially have a presence on those days.
  4. Buy a smart phone with geolocation. Using applications like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and Gowalla is a great way to  have a presence at various events, proving that your company “walks the walk.”
  5. Focus on sharing your core values first and your brand second.
  6. Use social media as a tool for conversation. Followup any posts or comments with a reply or gratitude for sharing.
  7. Execute a marketing strategy that integrates all your social media outlets. Too many companies tweet “Follow us to register for a free _____.” I’m already following you, that’s the only reason I saw your tweet! Cross-promotion is necessary so don’t waste the left sidebar on Twitter. Have a professional design your background to include your URL and any other pertinent information like @sputtyLA.
